Our Heritage In the 1980s, a series of private equity firms were created in Europe, the US and Asia in partnership with Schroders plc, to advise country-specific private equity funds sponsored by Schroders. These firms became part of an international association known as Schroder Ventures, which operated with increasing independence over time. In the mid 1990s, the individual businesses in France, Germany, Italy and the UK, which had already advised 15 country-specific funds, came together to form a single integrated and independent European business, known as Schroder Ventures Europe. In 1997, Permira Europe I, a Euro 890 million fund focused on investments throughout Europe, was raised. This was followed in 2000 by Permira Europe II, a Euro 3.3 billion fund also focused on pan-European investments. In 2001, the partnership with Schroders was terminated by mutual agreement and Permira became wholly owned by its partners. Schroders Ventures Europe was renamed Permira to formally acknowledge these changes. In 2003, Permira Europe III was raised. This fund totals over Euro 5 billion including commitments from Permira. In 2006, Permira IV was raised totalling over Euro 11 billion including commitments from Permira. |
