Dr John Tang
Senior Adviser
Dr John Tang is a Senior Adviser to Permira’s Services team. He works with the investment team and portfolio company leadership to accelerate AI-led transformation and to identify and build the next generation of AI-enabled services businesses.
John has more than 20 years of experience across AI, data science, technology and investing. Prior to joining Permira, he led the EMEA Technology Solutions arm at Cerberus Capital Management, where he was responsible for technology and AI strategy across deal sourcing, due diligence and portfolio value creation.
Previously, John held senior data and AI leadership roles at Barclays and J.P. Morgan. As Chief Data Scientist at Barclays’ UK Information Business, he led the commercialisation of data and AI capabilities serving more than 20 million retail customers. As Head of EMEA for J.P. Morgan’s Big Data & AI group, he helped develop and execute data and AI strategy across the business.
John began his career as a research scientist at the University of Cambridge. He remains active in the technology ecosystem as an adviser, mentor and venture investor.
John currently serves as a board member of Radiant Infrastructure.

Qualifications
John holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Cambridge, and an Masters in Computer Science from UCL, England.
