About The Permira Foundation
Formed in 2017, the Permira Foundation was set up to centralise the firm's philanthropic initiatives in the geographies in which we operate. Whilst Permira has a long history of being involved in charitable giving, the Permira Foundation ensures a consistent approach to charitable giving across Permira and encourages engagement with the charities alongside financial support.
The Permira Foundation’s objectives are:
- Advance the education of young people
- Prevent and relieve poverty
- Advance and preserve good health, and prevent and relieve sickness
- Promote social inclusion by preventing people from becoming socially excluded, relieving the needs of those people who are socially excluded and assisting them to integrate into society
- Relieve those in need by reason of their youth, age, infirmity or disablement, financial hardship or social and economic circumstances
The Permira Foundation achieves these objectives through making grants to charitable organisations and social enterprises which work in the above areas.

Permira Relief Fund
In April 2020, the Permira Foundation set up a Relief Fund in response to the impact that COVID-19 had on the communities in which we operate.
The Permira Foundation received funding from the Permira Relief Fund and leveraged existing relationships with charities to reach out to other beneficiaries that were particularly affected by the pandemic. The Permira Relief Fund supported the deployment of grants and 3:1 matching from Permira employees to charities identified as being already in existence and front-line in their efforts. There has been a particular focus on engaging with charities beyond just financial assistance and the team continue to look for opportunities where we can support with pro-bono projects and where Permirans can volunteer their own time and expertise. We are currently working on many initiatives across the globe with a large proportion of Permira employees working alongside organisations to amplify the impact we can have.
The Permira Foundation’s success is rooted in the dedication of Permira employees. In 2020 alone, Permirans volunteered an unprecedented c.2,000 hours across the globe. Click on the download button to see more of the Foundation’s highlights and the impact and reach it has on our communities.
